(New York City, USA) - The Grammys (or the Gramophone Records to use their original name) have rewarded the biggest hitters in the record business for 50 years. And that’s a list that regularly includes dance artists like the Chemical Brothers, Deep Dish and Dirty Vegas; which shows that the Academy knows how to stay current. So much so, in fact, that they’ve decided to run a very interesting little competition on YouTube, which will allow the winner to perform with the Foo Fighters on Grammy night….

Grammy night takes place on Sunday 10 February, at the Staples Centre in Los Vegas. And while the Recording Academy is busy rewarding its best and brightest - and a few of dance music’s best and brightest too, like Justice, LCD Soundsystem and the Chems, who are all up for awards) - one winner will come straight out of the blue. Or out of the Internet, to be more precise, when one winner is finally picked as the winner of the My Grammy Moment competition.

Of course they don’t get their own Grammy - YouTube isn’t that powerful yet - but the winner will get to perform a special version of Foo Fighters song The Pretender, as featured instrumentalist in the Foo Fighters orchestra. But first they have to beat off 44 other contestants who are also competing for this chance.

After the initial vote, the 15 semi-finalists from the YouTube site will go to Los Angeles to rehearse with the band during Grammy week. The ‘Top 3′ are announced on Monday 4 February, then voting for the winner continues until the first two hours of the actual Grammy broadcast (via text now), when ‘the featured instrumentalist is announced live on stage during the telecast, prior to his / her ultimate Grammy moment.’
